Like a Ship in the Harbour

Like a Ship in the Harbour is an acrylic on canvas painting part of my Life's Journey series. This series of paintings explore fundamental processes or heightened, dramatic or significant moments in our life's journey. The title of painting refers to a song I was taught on one of my first visits to Aotearoa New Zealand. Although the song was written as a lullaby for me it is an expression of the willingness to hold those who are near or dear in my arms to hold, protect, embrace, shower with love when the going is tough in times of upset.

Like a ship in the harbour, like a mother and child

Like a light in the darkness, I hold you awhile

We'll rock on the water. I'll cradle you deep

And hold you while angels sing you to sleep
