Familio

Familio is an acrylic painting on wood panel, part of the Song Series. The Song Series are paintings, inspired by the quintessential spirit or feeling of one of the songs, that I collected from around the world and performed with various vocal ensembles. Familio is an expression of the feeling of missing the land and people of your origin.  This feeling of yearning or Sehnsucht - as experienced by all those who have left the land and people they grew up with - manifests itself sometimes as a gentle breeze, a faint feeling of remembrance, at other times it is like a wild compassionate storm, shaking you, pulling you, and calling you with urgency and passion.
